Malagasy drumming is traditionally used for healing ceremonies, celebrations, dancing and communicating with our ancestors. Madagascar is a Creole nation. The music has Asian, Arabic and African rhythmic influences. An important aspect of our music is incorporating ritual music from the various coastal and highland regions of Madagascar, each with their own unique rhythms and percussion instruments. In our performances we dance as well as play traditional drums (amponga be, langoraona, hazolahy), string instruments (valiha, marovany) and flutes of Madagascar.
